Judith M. Lukas
Democratic Candidate
For Winfield Township Trustee
Township government in Illinois has three primary functions, property assessment, maintaining township roads, and the provision of assistance to those in need. It is this latter function where Winfield Township is not doing all that needs to be done. I am a registered nurse and I have spent eight of those years in home health getting to know people in our community. I have a good understanding of the strengths and weaknesses of the services that people are getting. I know we can do better. Since I am a trained nurse, this would be my focus.
In addition, and particularly due to the challenges of reduced social interactions due to the COVID-19 pandemic, I would like to find a way to help the local businesses in Warrenville, West Chicago and Winfield. As a model, Aurora has a program of “First Fridays”. This provides a venue and opportunity to bring attention to local business through a series of events and other community programs. I would study that program and implement something similar in Winfield Township, with the cooperation of the local businesses, Chamber of Commerce and other units of local government.
I believe I could bring both energy and compassion to Winfield Township Government, and I appreciate your consideration when you are in the voting booth on April 6th. Better yet, get a vote-by-mail ballot now.
